After seeing everyone running around on campus with their red Starbucks cups, it just hit me that Christmas is around the corner!! I've been in a cave ever since finals started =p

What the holidays means to me:

- Christmas lights galore
- the smell of a real douglas fir
- my mom adding more and more decorations each year after loading up from last year's Christmas sales
- my dad half-assing the outdoor Christmas lights but nonetheless gets them up before the holidays are over
- never knowing what to get my parents
- watching my siblings still get excited about how many presents they have under the tree
- reconnecting with old friends
- putting the fireplace to use
- eating, eating, and more eating
- holiday shopping

But really, the holidays are just another reminder for me of how much I love and appreciate my family and friends and to celebrate having spent another year of my life with them...Happy Holidays!

If you didn't know by now, JAY-Z will be kicking off his BP3 Tour in 2010. His bay area appearance will be at the HP Pavilion in San Jose Wednesday, March 24. Young Jeezy will be accompanying the great hip hop icon and I'm sure there will be special guests with big names. I've seen Jay-Z live and he is awesome...so I am expecting nothing less than amazing for his BP3 concert! Make sure to get your tickets, guarantee they'll sell out!

Although I was thoroughly disappointed that "Fame Kills" was canceled and I wouldn't get to see two of my favorite performers share the stage together, I cannot pass up on seeing the crazy but avant garde bitch herself, Lady GaGa perform live. She will be kicking off her "Monster Ball" tour Nov. 27 and will be joined by Kid Cudi. Glad I like Cudi's mixtape and I've definitely warmed up to his new album. Kanye West and Lady GaGa, my two favorite artists who also happen to be attention-grabbing whores (as made evident by their crazy antics at last night's MTV VMAs) have just released the dates for their "Fame Kills" tour. These two will be performing as a duo on this tour, which I would imagine it to be just as outrageous as Kanye stealing the spotlight from Taylor Swift or Lady GaGa wearing red lace underwear over her face....Can't wait, its gonna be bananas!

Nate Davis joins the 49ers as the 3rd QB, but landing this position means more than just playing for a legendary NFL team. Davis struggles from a learning disability, in which he has learned to cope with and adjust to throughout his childhood and even to this day. It is incredible to see someone who is at a disadvantage when it comes to reading and writing become a professional athlete, ironically a quarterback who's primary job is to memorize and understand complicated plays.

Not only is Davis thrilled with his new NFL job, but he is and has been giving back to his community by helping other children who live with autism and learning disabilities similar to his. I commend him for getting as far as he has and I hope he has a successful and lasting career in the NFL. You can read more about Davis' inspirational story here:

WOW...Nas and Damian MURDERED IT, Big Boi and Busta HELD IT DOWN, The Roots and Tech N9ne were ON POINT and sadly, Common was a NO SHOW. I had an amazing time at RTB '09 even though it was so damn hot and I missed the meet n' greet with KRS-One. But I did get a nifty RTB backpack, shirt and poster =) I definitely will pay for seat tickets even though the lawn was a lot of fun too. I think I'll skip the V.I.P. upgrade though next year. Below are some clips of Nas' performance...whom I have a newfound love for.

The Frisky: Asian Trophy Wives Is A Label We Could Do Without

Came across this article today and found it quite interesting. I'm Asian and it appears that I attract the opposite sex (go figure). J and I have discussed whether this "attraction" is based on some kind of Asian fetish or that guys are really attracted to me for me, I hope its the latter for my sake. The author of the article tries to refute the "Asian Trophy Wife" label and suggests that relationships particularly between white men and Asian women, are like any other interracial relationship. I see where she's coming from but I know plenty of guys who suffer from "yellow fever" and many Asian women who completely fit the bill for "Asian Trophy Wife". I guess for the women it depends on how much they feed into the stereotype i.e. gold digging, submissive, "me-love-you-long-time", etc.

I personally do everything I can to steer away from this stereotype because I'm an Asian female who's I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T, do you know what that means??

I was chillin in the car waiting to get my friday night started and this song came on. It definitely got my night started off right! "Club Love" is a product of The Cataracts, cute white boys straight outta Berkeley...YaY area stand up! These boys remind me why I'm a sucker for bay boys and their style and swagger ;)

Anyways, I'm very surprised they haven't signed to a big label yet....but I gotta feeling they are gonna blow up very soon. I love the range of their music and how their mixes incorporate Mac Dre to Lykke Li to MGMT...its eclectic like me!

Brabham Racing enhanced this 494-hp BT92 from the base 414-hp 2010 BMW M3 coupe. The body kit encompasses the clean lines of the coupe but still maintains an aggressive appearance. From the carbon fiber intake manifold to the wide-ass racing tires...this beauty is one fast and sexy beast. Summer is upon us and for some strange reason I become more into dance/house/indie pop during this season. Maybe its the longer summer days, the rising temperatures or just being outdoors more? Whatever it is, it puts me in a good mood where I just wanna listen to happy, feel-good music. And MGMT is definitely doing it for me.

This duo from Brooklyn has toured with M.I.A. and performed at Coachella. Their music can be described as...eclectic. It's a mix of pop, indie, and new wave. I've only heard a few DJs on Club 949 play their music, which I appreciate because its important to play music by artists that aren't necessarily mainstream/popular. But then again, if they get airtime and people like the music then they will get popular and everyone else will jump on the bandwagon...isn't it how it always is?

Like I said, their music is eclectic and I have eclectic taste. So love it or hate it :)

Sorry, its been a minute...I got a hold of the leaked Eminem- Relapse album and I have very mixed feelings about it. His lyrics are laced with words associated with incest, rape and murder which I guess shouldn't be a surprise since his past CDs contain similar themes. I'm not sure if I've gotten more sensitive to his lyrics or that his lyrics have gotten more disturbing. I give him kudos for exposing his raw emotions and feelings and I appreciate the fact that he uses music as an emotional outlet. But as a female, it's always difficult to hear about a woman being attacked or raped ("Same Song & Dance"). The incest thing is disturbing as well ("Insane", go figure). Every artist has their own reasons/motives behind their art and sometimes its not for us to judge or to really understand sometimes. To each their own I guess.

Unfortunately, I've gotten in trouble for sharing music through this site so I can't share the album with you (laaaame). Anyways, if you get a chance to check out his CD let me know what you think!

The great surrealist Salvador Dali is one of my most favorite artists...I went to his museum last summer in St. Petersburg, Fl and it was amazing! The tour guide told some crazy stories about Dali, i.e. his infatuation with masturbating, his obsession with the female body and his enduring love for his wife.

Avoid Social Isolation

The cost of social isolation may be higher than we think. Studies show that the fewer human connections we have at home, at work, and in the community, the more likely we are to get sick, flood our brains with anxiety-causing chemicals, and die prematurely.

One study in Sweden showed that those who frequented cultural events such as concerts, museum exhibits, and even ball games tended to live longer than their stay-at-home peers. The key factors could be increased social contact and reduced stress. Other studies have found that people who are isolated may live only half as long as those who have a lot of human contact. Love seems to be an immune system nutrient.

The good news is that these same studies also show that the more human connections we have, the more likely we are to live longer and healthier. Connectedness is the unacknowledged key to emotional and physical health. The more ties you have, the more likely you are to stay well in the first place. Researchers who monitored 276 people between the ages of 18 and 55 found that those who had six or more connections were four times better at fighting off the viruses that cause colds.
